GIVE PEACE A CHANCE: Providing Hope for a Better Future

The goal of the Campaign is to provide opportunities for individuals and organizations of diverse faiths and ethnicities to collectively engage in activities in the United States that help to create measurable and documented improvements in conditions on the ground in Palestine and Israel, thereby increasing the chances for a successful negotiated peace settlement that fairly addresses the needs and concerns of both sides in the conflict. As our primary campaign activity, Sharing Jerusalem and its interfaith partner organizations will work with local churches, synagogues, and mosques to host monthly prayer services followed by educational workshops, focused on peace in the Middle East. Each workshop will concentrate on a specific current condition on the ground in Israel or Palestine (for example, the siege of Gaza, rockets fired from Gaza into Israel, West Bank checkpoints, the growing security barrier/wall inside the West Bank, settlement expansion inside East Jerusalem, etc.) and describe how each is undermining the peace process and the chances that a negotiated settlement will be successful.

The campaign is open to any individual or group who shares our goal of a just resolution of this terrible conflict that affects the entire world community. While the local campaign events are focused on the Baltimore-Washington region, we welcome participation by groups across the country. Resource materials and templates for the prayer services and workshops will be posted on the Sharing Jerusalem website, and the Sharing Jerusalem Facilitator will be available to help you plan and implement your parallel events.
